How to use Glaives

Glaives replaces boomerangs with larger glaives that have 13 pierce (up from 8) and a bigger hitbox, so they clip more bloons on each pass. Damage, speed and range stay the same.

The upgrade has big crosspath effects on the bottom path. MOAB Press gets +120 pierce on its heavy kylies and 50% more knockback. MOAB Domination gets the same plus bigger, higher-pierce explosions and +23 pierce on its regular kylies.

When to buy it

With Recurring 'Rangs, a 2-0-0 Boomerang Monkey is a strong early tower, and 2-0-2 carries it into the mid game by adding lead popping. Without that Monkey Knowledge it is mostly a crosspath.

  • 2-3-0 Bionic Boomerang and 2-5-0 Perma Charge use it to stop pierce-capping.
  • 2-0-4 MOAB Press and 2-0-5 MOAB Domination use it for more knockback and pierce on their anti-MOAB attacks.

It also unlocks Glaive Ricochet if you continue on the top path.

Is it worth it?

Yes as a crosspath. For $280 it is one of the most impactful tier 2 upgrades on the Boomerang Monkey, especially on bottom path builds.
