How to use Glaive Dominus

Glaive Dominus is the Boomerang Monkey Paragon. It merges Glaive Lord, Perma Charge and MOAB Domination into one tower with three attacks, a support buff and an activated ability. All of its attacks detect camo, and its damage type pops every bloon.

Attacks at degree 1

  • Main glaives: thrown every 0.04 seconds, 25 damage (+50 to bosses), 60 pierce. They bounce to new targets anywhere on screen and set a shredding effect on the first target, dealing 750 damage per second for about 15 seconds.
  • Orbital glaives: three huge glaives circle the tower in a 50 radius, hitting every 0.1 seconds for 42 damage with bonus damage to ceramics, MOAB-class and bosses (+150), up to 200 targets.
  • Paragon press: every 3 seconds it throws a heavy glaive at a MOAB-class bloon (100 range, ignores obstacles) that pushes blimps back, then explodes for 2,500 damage (+4,000 to bosses) and burns targets for 500 damage per second over 4 seconds. BFBs receive half the push, ZOMGs and DDTs a quarter.

Overcharge and the Primary buff

Overcharge gives 10 stacks of attack speed on all three attacks. Each stack is a 10% cooldown reduction, and one stack is lost every 3 seconds, so the boost fades over 30 seconds. The cooldown is 45 seconds at degree 1 and shrinks at higher degrees.

Glaive Dominus also makes every other Primary monkey on the map, including other Paragons, attack about 11% faster.

How to unlock Glaive Dominus

Unlock all three Boomerang Monkey tier 5 upgrades, then spend the XP shown at the top of this page to unlock the Paragon. In a game, own Glaive Lord (5-x-x), Perma Charge (x-5-x) and MOAB Domination (x-x-5) at the same time, select one of them and buy the Paragon upgrade. Every Boomerang Monkey on the map is absorbed.

Degree and how to raise it

Degree goes from 1 to 100 and increases damage, pierce, attack speed and ability recharge. It is locked in when you buy the Paragon and depends on the power absorbed:

  • Cash spent on absorbed Boomerang Monkeys (not counting tier 5s) plus the Paragon cash slider, up to 80,000 power.
  • Each tier 5 beyond the required three adds 6,000 power.
  • Damage dealt by absorbed Boomerang Monkeys adds power, up to 125,000.
  • Each Paragon Power Totem from Geraldo adds 2,000 power.

Degree 100 needs 200,000 power. For full Overcharge uptime you want at least around degree 51.

When to buy it

Glaive Dominus is one of the more affordable Paragons and a favorite against elite tier 3 and tier 4 bosses in Boss Events. It is especially good against bosses that spawn children, such as Dreadbloon and Lych, thanks to its bouncing glaives and large orbit. Blastapopoulos is a weaker matchup, because the boss can reduce Overcharge uptime, and Overcharge should be avoided against Lych.

In freeplay it is often used mainly for its knockback, and its Primary buff makes it a natural partner for other Primary Paragons. Because it does not depend on walls, it works on almost every map, as long as it can reach a lot of track.

Is it worth it?

Yes. It is cheaper than most Paragons, has camo detection, knockback and a team buff, and it is not map dependent. Its raw damage is lower than the heaviest Paragons, so for the biggest boss tiers it shines most as part of a team of damage dealers.
