Coldchain

Coldchain makes each arrow slow the first Bloon it hits by 25% for 3 seconds (blimps are not slowed). It also unlocks the Ice Combo. Ice Skywardens put a blue mark on Bloons they damage for 3 seconds, and repeated hits advance the combo:

• Projectiles from any tower lose one less pierce when they hit a marked Bloon, so marked Bloons are almost free to hit.
• From the third hit, each arrow slows other Bloons within 8 units of the target by 20%.
• From the fourth hit, each arrow fires two shrapnel shards at the nearest Bloons. Each shard has 3 pierce, deals 3 damage (+3 to frozen Bloons) and has a 35% chance to freeze non-MOAB Bloons for 1.5 seconds.

When to buy it

• In ice strategies with Silas, Icicles and Embrittlement, Coldchain is a powerful tier 3 that helps against dense groups. It needs a single-target specialist for blimps.
• It is the cheapest tier 3 that speeds up Silas from level 8.
• Outside ice builds, the pierce-saving mark still helps cleanup towers deal with crowded rounds.

Crosspaths: 1-0-3 or 2-0-3 for range and Camo, 0-1-3 or 0-2-3 for obstacle-heavy maps.

Is it worth it?

Yes in a freeze-based defense. Without ice support, Galvanic Conduit or Galesage give more for the money.
