Popseidon makes Ice Jet far stronger. Ice balls deal 30 damage and bounce off the map edges, and each use also floods the map: every bloon on screen takes 70 frigid damage (camo included, even without detection) and is slowed to half speed for 8 seconds, even bloons it cannot damage. Range grows from 32 to 40, trident attack speed doubles, tridents and wavelets deal 15 base damage (+7.5 to frozen, +15 to MOAB-class) and scale up faster, and each attack throws three tridents in a 90 degree spread.

When to buy it

At $52,000 it is a strong late-game tier 5 that clears smaller blimps and dense groups with ease. Save the ability for fast rushes or the densest part of a round; the map-wide slow buys time for the rest of your defense.

Crosspath 0-5-2 for homing tridents, camo detection and, with Echosense Network Mermonkeys nearby, a lot of extra range.

Is it worth it?

Yes in late CHIMPS if you cover its damage type gaps. It cannot pop White or Purple Bloons, so round 95's purple wave needs another answer, and its single-target damage is limited. In boss events the flood helps with minions, but it is not a main boss damage dealer. Compared with Lord of the Abyss and The Final Harmonic, it is the damage-focused Mermonkey tier 5.
